✨ This Week’s MindSpark: “What Would You Let AI Do?”

AI is getting smarter. The real question is: “What do you want it to do for you?”
The MindSpark™ Activity:
Step 1: Choose one everyday task.
As a family, each person picks one task they’d happily hand off to AI.
It could be:
planning a meal,
sorting business expenses,
finding the fastest route to soccer practice,
writing reminders or study guides,
organizing the family calendar.
Step 2: Ask your favorite AI tool:
“If I asked you to help me with [your task], how would you do it?”
Read or listen to the response together. Then discuss:
Would you actually trust AI to do it?
What might it do better than you?
What part would you still want to handle yourself?
Step 3: Reflect.
Ask one more question:
“What kinds of tasks should always stay human?”
You’ll be surprised by the answers. This question helps children identify what they value about effort, creativity, and responsibility.
Why It Matters
AI can save time, yet it can also shape habits.
When families talk about what they want AI to do, and what they don’t, they’re building digital literacy and values-based awareness.
As I shared in last week’s DISCOVERING AI newsletter article, “The Reimagined Browser: What OpenAI’s Atlas Means for Families,” the future of technology is not just about speed. It’s about wisdom.
This activity helps you practice that wisdom at home by deciding where AI should assist and where human effort still matters most.
Let’s raise creators, not just consumers; families who lead technology with clarity, confidence, and care.
This Week’s Family Extra
End your conversation by choosing one phrase that describes your family’s “AI boundaries.”
Examples:
“AI helps us, not replaces us.”
“We use AI for creativity, not convenience.”
“We decide when to press go.”
Write it on a sticky note, post it near your family computer, or include it in your FAMILY AI GAME PLAN™.

DISCOVERING AI: A Parent's Guide to Raising Future-Ready Kids is now available on Amazon. It is the next chapter of this conversation, a guide to help families move from confusion to confidence with frameworks, real-life stories, and simple weekly practices.
My hope is that it helps parents practice intentional parenting and recognize our role in ensuring technology becomes a tool for purpose and connection, not a threat to it.
